At the end of 2013/beginning of 2014 I made the very stupid mistake of dying my natural hair colour (light ashy brown) to a deeper brown. I used a small salon in the town that I live in to do this for me. Again, another stupid mistake. I actually ended up with hair that was closer to black that was actually dyed with a permanent dye rather than semi-permanent.
I put up with it for a few months and then visited some bigger salons in Liverpool to have the colour corrected. There were 3 salons that I tried, I won't name and shame any of them on here. Each of the salons tried to remove the brassiness from my darker hair and attempted to add cooler tones and to lighten the colour. Each time I would pay £80 - £100 and I would leave with my hair looking exactly the same. One of the salons in particular was really terrible. I ended up leaving with such a terrible cut to my hair that a hairdresser from home actually offered to re-style it for free.
I was at the point of giving up with my hair as I'd already spent close to £400 trying to fix the colour and I was seriously ready to shave it off and start again. I know it sounds silly, but it was proving nearly impossible to get the dye out and make it a nice, even colour.
It was at this point of desperation when I came across Ström Salon, based in Ormskirk. I could see on her Facebook page that the Salon specialised in colour corrections, and the before & after pictures looked very impressive.
I arranged a consultation to see just how much work would need to be done to fix my hair. In the initial consultation, we agreed that I would go much lighter but would keep darker roots. I ended up being in the Salon for 10 1/2 hours up until 12:30am.
Luckily, Ruth (stylist and owner of the salon) was very welcoming. Both Ruth and Bronson (french bulldog) kept me entertained while in the salon. Ruth worked her magic for 10 hours while I sat back and enjoyed Bronson's company.

I was so pleased with the results from this appointment and I'm so grateful for Ruth's amazing work. Coming across her Facebook page was the best thing I could have done. Ever since this first appointment, I've returned to Ruth. Trusting anyone else with my hair just isn't going to happen now.
I've been trying to grow my hair over this period and I've also been trying very hard to keep it healthy as it has been bleached frequently over the past year or so. Each time it is bleached, Olaplex is used to maintain the structure of the hair to keep it strong and healthy.

As you can see it is a lot lighter at the ends now with my completely natural root colour at the base. I like having quite long roots as it makes my hair very low maintenance. I now only need to have it touched up every few months, which is great for when I'm trying to let it grow out.
I would 100% recommend Ruth to anyone looking for a colour correction. Since having my hair done for the first time in June 2014, two of my friends have now started to visit the salon after witnessing how she changed my hair.
